How do I prepare for college in the ELEVENTH GRADE?
Attend one of Ms. Simpson’s college trips or rep visits.
Get online and explore potential careers, majors, and schools.
Familiarize yourself with school websites and admissions criteria...and think seriously about your own college list.
Get on campus…visit a friend, take a tour, or attend one of Ms. Simpson’s trips.
Challenge yourself…this may mean taking an honors, collegege, or AP level course.
Be sure that you are on track to complete
minimum course requirements
.
Focus on your academics…ask for help if you need it.
Keep an eye on that GPA...you will be applying to college with the GPA you hold at the end of this year.
Prepare for the March
ACT
...all North Carolina juniors will be taking the March test and it is FREE.
Try the
SAT
by the end of your junior year and then retest over the summer or in the early fall.
Remain involved in your school and community…consider a leadership position.
Work with your teachers and counselors to create a resume.
Begin searching for scholarships.
Make the most of your last summer vacation of high school (enrichment programs, jobs, college tours...the options are endless).
